Uganda Cubs will go into the final group game against minnows Djibouti seeking for at least victory to guarantee their chances of progressing to the semifinals.
With Ethiopia already top of group B on nine points, the final slot is up for grabs between Uganda and Kenya who are both level on six points.
Peter Onen’s charges return to action on Wednesday in high spirits after winning the last two games including defeating Kenya 3-1.
Djibouti have been one of the weakest team at the tournament shipping in 15 goals and managing to score just once.
The Cubs will therefore need to score enough goals to dispense Kenya if they go on to beat Ethiopia. Kenya have a goal difference of eleven, five more than Uganda.
Onen is aware of the importance of the game and thus expects full commitment from the players.
” It is a game of life and death, we need to go and show full commitment like we have done in the last two games. We know what is at stake and required, hence we shall go and attack right from the start.” he said.
In group A, hosts Tanzania outwitted Rwanda 4-0 on Tuesday to lead group A on nine points.
Rwanda finished second on six while Burundi and Sudan bowed out on 3 and 0 points respectively.
The winner of the tournament, besides Tanzania will represent CECAFA region at the 2019 U17 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Tanzania.
