• Vipers SC 0-1 Al Hilal Omdurman

Vipers Sports Club suffered a slim 0-1 home defeat to Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman during the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round one at the St Mary’s Stadium – Kitende on Saturday.

Waleed Bakhiet scored the priceless goal in the first half of the game as Al Hilal walked away with first leg advantage prior to the return leg scheduled for next weekin Khartoum.

The goal came after 25th minutes through Bakhiet heavyweighted stunner inside the goal area that resulted from Vipers’ defenders who failed to clear away a long throw-in from the right wing.

Vipers had only one shot on target in the first half off Abdulkarim Watambala which was dealt with by goalkeeper Ali Ashrin before winger Milton Karisa was subbed for Ibrahim Orit on the stroke of halftime.

In the 55th minute, Abraham Ndugwa and Jamil Kalisa paved way for dread-locked striker Daniel Sserunkuma and David Bagoole as the Uganda Premier League holders looked to gain some momentum.

In the 75th minute, Mucureezi who replaced Disan Galiwango, delivered a swift cross from the right but Sserunkuma missed inside the goal area.

Congolese import Ceaser Loro Manzoki arrived late to tap in Watambala’s through ball while Orit had his ground shot saved by Ali for a corner kick.
