Caf CC Final: TP Mazembe Pick Vital Point in Algeria

Five time continental champions TP Mazembe from DR Congo picked an early advantage in the 2016 Caf Confederations cup first leg final after forcing a one all draw away to Algerian side Mouloudia Olympique Bejaia at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida.

Striker Jonathan Bolingi opened the game two minutes to the break while Faouzi Yaya rescued the Algerians with an equaliser in the 66th minute.

The win means that the Lubumbashi side carry home an away goal advantage ahead of the second leg to be played next week.

Any win for the home side will confirm their tenth continental club trophy. They have previously won the champions league five times, check one African Cup Winners’ Cup and three super cups.

Caf confederations cup is the second most valuable club competition in the continent that accommodates national league cup winners. Uganda was represented by SC Villa.

The winner of the trophy bags home a cool USD 625,000 (Ushs 2.062 Bn) while the runners up takes USD 432,000 (Ushs 1.43Bn).
