The 2017 Busoga Masaza Cup kicked off in high gear and style on Saturday with a thrilling encounter between Kigulu county and Bukono.
The game graced by His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga, Wilberforce William Gabula Nadiope IV saw Kigulu defeat Bukono 1-0 at Bukono Memorial SS in Namutumba District.
The visitors got the all-important goal through Alimansi Waiswa from a well taken free kick in the second half and this turned out to be the deciding moment.
Running for the second time, the opener attracted a mammoth crowd and the Kyabazinga urged his subjects to sell the game beyond Busoga.
“I thank everyone who has made sure the Masaza Cup grows stronger but I believe we can promote it beyond Busoga,” he said.
