Bushenyi Businessman Dies in Car Crash

Western Uganda is mourning the loss of one of its most successful entrepreneurs, more about web Geoffrey Tumusiime Kawempe in a road accident in Bushenyi town on Saturday morning.

According to the Greater Bushenyi regional OC traffic, healing Otungul, the deceased rammed into a trailer near Bushenyi Police station as it joined the highway from Liberation road.

He died hours later at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality.

Otungul added that Kawempe was in company of two female occupants in his car who are in critical condition at the same hospital.

They were identified as Shiba Kanyesigye and the other only identified as Hope both students at Paramount Secondary School, Bushenyi.

Wilfred Byamugisha, the Bushenyi District OC traffic, noted that they are still investigating circumstances behind this fatal accident.

Eye witnesses have attributed it to a high speed and the mist from the nearby valley.

Apollo Kakonge, the Executive Director West Ankole Civil Society Forum who witnessed this horrible incident a few minutes after the accident, said it occurred at around 3:25 am in the morning.


Kawempe has been the executive director of Youth Social Worker Association and Shell Bushenyi. He will be laid to rest on October 7.
