Bukedea Town Council ended their winless start to the FUFA Big League season in style with a victory against Katwe United to climb off the bottom of the table in a game played at CRO Playground in Mbale.
The Bukedea based club registered two draws and a defeat to Paidha Black Angels in the first three games of the season and their win means that they now have five points.
Simon Misaki Opio scored a sensational quick-fire goal to give the hosts the lead in the 3rd minute before Innocent Maduka scoring the second in the 38th minute to give the team their first win in the FUFA Big League season.
The ‘tulibanyivu’ side pulled one back thanks to Alex Katumba’s fine finish in the 68th minute.
Katwe United recently fired their head coach Hassan Mubiru after a 4-1 thrashing by Doves All Stars at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo. They appointed Allan Kabonge who is also the promotions specialist who fell to the hands of Anthony Ssekitto who said its a revenge to him after Kabonge knocked him in the play-offs by then when still at Paidha Black Angels and Ssekitto was at Kitara FC.
“They are very good, all their players are experienced having played in the top flight but my side was angry for a win since we have not had a win. We have waited for this day to come and it has finally come.
I am using this win as a revenge for what Katwe’s coach did to me when I was still at Kitara and he was at Paidha. I didn’t sleep for 4 days!” Bukedea TC coach said.
Kabonge on the other side said that he is not shaken because this is his first game as Katwe United coach but he is ready for it.
“This is just my first game. Despite our loss, we hope to build from that,” he said.
Bukedea TC will visit Light SS in the Teso derby on Sunday. The two teams have met twice in the league and both have had a single win.
Light SS drew at home to Mbale based Kataka FC.
