Mugoya Abiyasaali, a suspect who last week pleaded guilty of murdering Bugiri district Shiekh Masood Mutumba, has made contradictions which affected his earlier plea.
Abiyasaali, a supervisor with SGA Uganda Limited a private security company today told the Makindye General Court Martial chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Gutti that he committed the offence alone.
He also said he committed the matter because of his personal issues with the deceased.
This was in contrast to what he had admitted to earlier that other people were involved the crime.
In response to Abiyasaali’s change of mind, State Prosecution led by Lt. Col. Raphael Mugisha asked court to change his plea to “not guilty” since he denied the original facts of the case.
As such, the Chairman Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti accepted and entered a plea of not guilty as Mugoya’s co- accused earlier pleaded.
Mugoya with seven others were remanded back to jail until the 31st March for mentioning of the case
Sheikh Mutumba was gunned down on the 15th February 2020 at his home in Busimba Village, Bugiri District following a call from unknown person inviting him outside his house.
