Buganda Region select team edged Uganda Cranes 2-1 in the regional tour game played on Sunday at Bukalasa Agricultural Institute in Luweero District.

Ben Tahomera and Tazan Kambugu scored a goal in either half to guide Buganda to victory despite Musitafa Kiiza pulling one back for the Cranes from the spot.

Despite summoning players who play in the Uganda Premier League initially, they withdrew at the last minute and thus Buganda head coach Alex Isabirye had to use the other players.

Hannington Ssebwalunyo, Savio Kabugo, Saidi Kyeyune and Enock Walusimbi are some of the players that had been summoned initially.

On the other hand, the Uganda Cranes team comprised mainly of players that were summoned for U23 national team(The Kobs).

Buganda took the lead in the 25th minute through Tahomera whose free kick deflected off Hassan Musana before going to the back of the net.

Cranes made several attempts in search for the equaliser but Buganda remained resilient with goalkeeper Farouk Yawe who plays for Luweero United being alert to deny them.

The efforts later paid off when substitute Allan Kayiwa who came on for Steven Mukwala was brought down in the box and Musitafa Kiiza converted the penalty in the 69th minute.

Buganda were quick to regain their lead six minutes later with Kambugu’s thunderbolt going past goalkeeper Tom Ikara.
