The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi has announced that the party will hold the party primaries for Sheema North Constituency MP seat.
The party had recently postponed the exercise citing lack of enough funds.
In Sheema, the candidates vying for the ruling party flag had also started getting agitated on learning of the stall.
The elections had initially been scheduled for August 27, but were postponed.
Odoi told the media then that the party needed close to Shs.1bn to hold the primaries and in the other 6 new districts and constituencies.
Today he announced that the party had finally secured the funds.
“NRM Electoral Commission announces that party primaries for Sheema North Constituency shall be held on Thursday, September 13 between 8:00am to 4:00pm,” he said in a statement.
The seat fell vacant after the area legislator; Elioda Tumwesigye resigned the position having been elected as an MP in the new Sheema municipality.
The party is still silent on when it will hold primaries in the newly created districts of Nabilatuk, Kapelebyong, Bugweri, Kwania, Kasanda, Kikuube and the old District of Hoima.
