British National, Three Others Arrested For Supplying Fake Drugs

Police in Rwenzori region arrested and charged a British National and three other Ugandans for giving out dangerous bleach to locals as medicine that cures several diseases and illnesses.

According to police, the four suspects are members of a born again group called Global Healing Christian Mission located in Fort Portal district.

It is said that the group has also been purported to be a charity organization that was in charge of supplying born again Christians in Kyenjojo and Kabarole district with health supplies including the dangerous bleach.

Mr Fred Enanga, the Police spokesman said that the bleach based miracle cure was partly funded by a one Sam Lito from United Kingdom.

“Sam Lito, 25 who is on remand for being in possession of the narcotic substance would claim that drinking the toxic bleach helps in curing cancer, HIV/AIDS, malaria and many other diseases,” Enanga said.

The other suspects under detention are a one Pastor Tim Tim from Christian fellowship church of Fort Portal, Samuel Albert a herbalist and Tadeo Samula.

The four have been charged with two counts under the National Drug Authority Act for carrying out illegal clinical trials and supplying of impure drugs.

They were also charged two other counts under narcotics drugs trafficking and smuggling of dangerous drugs.


According to Enanga, when samples were submitted to NDA government analytical laboratories, the  bleach contained a dangerous corrosive toxic harmful to human consumption.

“We want to warn the public that any mixture or drug without prescription should be considered harmful and should be avoided,” Enanga said.
