UPDF Soldiers on Friday morning woke up to fend off a gang of armed people who invaded the army’s detachment in Zombo Town Council.
The gang, according to the UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire, was armed with machetes, bows and arrows.
In the exchange, Karemire says, a number of the attackers were gunned down.
Three UPDF soldiers also their lives.
The motive of the attackers was yet to be established.
The army spokesman described the attack as “suicidal.”
“Security forces working with the local leaders and Wanainchi are currently hunting for those assailants who escaped as investigations continue to establish the motive behind this heinous crime,” Karemire said.
