Reigning European Kings Real Madrid have named Julen Lopetegui as new club Manager.
The decision comes after the departure of Zidane Zinedine in what Club President Florentine Perez described as a ‘sad day’ at the club.
Zidane left the club towards the end of last month (May), just five days after winning the Champions league, for the third time.
Lopetegui, currently a Spain Coach with the National team, will take over as Real Madrid manager following the conclusion of the World Cup in Russia.
A statement on the official club website reads: “Julen Lopetegui will be the coach of Real Madrid after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“Real Madrid CF announces that Julen Lopetegui will coach the first team for the next three seasons.”
The Spaniard beats Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri who were strongly linked to the job.
Former player and current Real Madrid U18 coach, Guti was also lined up for the hot seat.
