Patrick Kanyomozi is the new Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) President.
He has been voted the new head of the sports journalists’ body on Saturday during the elections held at Copper Chimney in Lugogo on Saturday.
Kanyomozi won the hotly contested presidential election with a margin of 27 votes.
He collected 63 votes with Aliguma managing 36 votes while Sam Mpoza got 16 votes.
Kanyomozi is a sports journalists working with Kwese TV and KFM.
He was declared the new president by the returning officer Bernard Bainamani Bampire, the CEO of the Uganda Premier League.
In his speech after being announced winner, Kanyomozi called all parties to come together and work for the better of the association.
” The election period is done and we are now all under one house. We call upon everyone to unite and work for the betterment of the association.” He said.
Mubarak Kasule returned as the treasurer of the association defeating his rival Agnes Katende who works with Super FM.
Kasule garnered 95 votes while Katende only managed 22.
Francisco Bwambale(organising secretary) and Johnson Were(General Secretary) went through unopposed.
Kanyomozi will replace Sabiiti Muwanga who has been the president of the association for the last four years.
