Authorities in neighboring Kenya have confirmed the first case of coronavirus, sparking fear.
The country’s Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe revealed made the announcement Friday morning.
Kagwe according to Kenyan media, revealed that the patient is a woman who travelled from the U.S. to Nairobi through London.
The patient is said to have been in Kenya since March 5th.
Mutahi however said she is getting treatment and urged Kenyans not to panic but remain vigilant.
“The woman is a Kenyan citizen, she was returning from the US to Nairobi. She was confirmed positive by the national influenza lab, but she is stable,” he said.
The announcement puts Uganda at a much higher risk as most of the travelers into the country come in from Kenya.
