Moses Muhangi, the Uganda Boxing Federation’s President is now a certified international boxing technical officer.
The outspoken lawyer successfully completed the course and passed the examinations in Bangkok, Thailand last week.
The course and exams are set by the International Boxing Association, AIBA.
“This is to communicate the results of the AIBA ITO certification course conducted in Bangkok, Thailand during April 16-17, 2019,” the letter from AIBA to Muhangi partly reads.
“We would like to mention that you have successfully completed the course and passed the examinations.”
On his side, Muhangi thanked stakeholders for the goodwill messages.
“Thank you for those who have congratulated me upon becoming the only Ugandan with an international technical officer certification in boxing as far as the AIBA database records can show. I was certified after a successful course I took in Bangkok, Thailand a few weeks ago, which I passed with flying colors,” he said before adding that, “This qualification makes me high level knowledgeable and qualified person as far as boxing is concerned in Uganda in as far as AIBA (international boxing association) is concerned.”
AIBA introduced the certificate to ensure that Competition Officials are up to date with the latest Rules.
The program aims to ensure that all AIBA officials are knowledgeable about the rules, that they can make the right decisions during AIBA Competitions and maintain fair play and neutrality for the benefit of all competitors.
The certificate is reserved for AIBA Confederation Executive Committee and Commission Members, President, Secretary General or Elected Executive Members of AIBA National federations, Paid Employees of National Federation with NTO experience at National Federation, individuals with proven skills and knowledge of AIBA competitions, Former coach and official with international experience and retired boxers with international experience.
