The Rukiga District Covid-19 Taskforce has ordered closure of four shops whose owners are being accused of dealing with and supporting Rwandan smugglers.
The closed businesses are located at Hamisavu trading centre in Kashekye parish, Kamwezi Sub County.
The Rukiga Resident District Commissioner Pulkeria Muhindo told our reporter on Saturday that the decision came up on Friday during the District Covid-19 taskforce and security meeting held at Kamwezi Sub County headquarters.
The Kamwezi Sub County Covid-19 taskforce according to the RDC, last month discovered that the businessmen in question had been conniving with Rwandan nationals who smuggle different items like waragi, tobacco, second hand clothes from Uganda to Rwanda which risks people in that area contracting Covid-19.
The four businessmen were ordered to close their shops by Monday of face forceful eviction and arrest.
