Bodaboda Riders Targeted as Insecurity in Isingiro Sparks Tension

Isingiro Resident District Commissioner Hebert Muhangi has attributed the rising cases of murder in the area to economic stress on locals.

A recent string of murders where most of the victims were bodaboda riders has led to growing tension in the area.

Muhangi noted the culprits have become so emboldened that they even drop letters announcing their murders beforehand.

The latest victim was murdered with a panga last Sunday August 4, 2019 and his motor cycle was taken.

Luckily suspects were tracked and arrested and are in police custody.

Earlier, similar murders were carried out in Kashumba Sub County, in Masha at 17 Miles and another near Kaberebere trading center.

Besides robberies, security official say other murders are fueled by family wrangles.

The Gomborora Internal Security GISO of Nyakitunda sub county Asiimwe Julius says three people identified as Gerald Tumwine, 35, Tabaro Robert, 45, and Innocent Kayumbu connived and murdered their biological mother Yasenta Kayumbu, 74, in July 2019 over issues related to family land.

The face of the old woman was skinned off and her right hand cut off.

Asiimwe adds that another gruesome murder was recorded on June 24, 2019 when Christopher Nyakayaga was discovered murdered with the prime suspects being his own children.
