Bobi Wine’s Meetings Cannot Begin – Police Speaks Out

Police has Monday morning said that the intended consultative meetings of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine shall not commence as planned.

Deputy Police spokesperson Polly Namaye told press today that Kyagulanyi has not complied with a number of issues which were earlier agreed upon in a meeting that was held at the Electoral Commission in Kampala.

In the meeting, Namaye says, Hon. Kyagulanyi proposed to submit to Police 10 strategies which he would follow to ensure peaceful meetings and no repeat of lawlessness like previously witnessed in Kasangati; which he hasn’t to date.

” The police director in charge of operations AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi was forced to remind Hon. Kyagulanyi to submit these proposals but this has not been done,” Namaye said

“And because of noncompliance to submit these strategies like they had proposed, the meetings will not begin today,” she added

Last week, the law enforcement body acknowledged receipt of a Letter of notice from Bobi Wine but said it was not enough.

Today morning, Anti-riot police was deployed at pope Paul memorial hotel where the first meeting was scheduled.

Efforts to reach out to Joel Senyonyi, the spokesperson of people power pressure group went futile as he did not pick our calls.
