Singer turned politician Bobi Wine is currently in Accra-Ghana for the 2018 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
The ‘Kyarenga’ singer was invited to the annual awards ceremony that seeks to celebrate artistes in Africa, as a panelist together with South African legendary singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
Speaking during the AFRIMA Africa Music Business Summit that was held on Thursday at Kempinski Hotel, Accra, under the theme ‘African Music in a Global Village: Leveraging the Opportunities’, Bobi Wine called upon musicians in Africa to use their music to promote humanity and also meet their social responsibilities.
According to the Kyadondo East legislator, music shouldn’t only be looked at as a business but rather as a mechanism for social transformation also.
Meanwhile Yvonne Chaka Chaka has called upon managers of female artistes to stop asking for sexual favors from them and instead concentrate on promoting their talents.
Chaka Chaka says it’s important for managers to respect the arts.
The 2018 AFRIMA awards ceremony takes place tonight in Accra-Ghana.
