Presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party has announced that he will launch his 2021 election manifesto tomorrow Tuesday November 3, 2020, after being nominated by the Electoral Commission.
Bobi Wine made the pronouncement on Monday afternoon while replying to a letter from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola directing him to follow routes strictly designated for him as he moves to and from the nomination venue at Kyambogo University Sports Grounds.
“Police has written to me about this route as I go for nominations. We have no problem and we shall follow this route to the nominations venue. After that, we shall head straight to our office in Kamwokya where we shall launch our manifesto,” said Bobi.
The youthful Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, however, challenged police not to play double standards, saying, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party supporters staged processions for their candidate Yoweri Museveni as he headed for nominations.
“Today, we saw people mobilized by NRM standing along different roads, guarded by the police, unmolested. We hope the Police will behave the same way if our supporters stand by the road to wave to us,” he said.
Police has designated the Kisasi, Ntinda -Stretcher route for Bobi Wine as he heads for nomination tomorrow.
“You will be escorted by the Uganda Police Force with a lead traffic vehicle/ motorcycle to the nomination venue with your team as per the Electoral Commission guidelines,” read the from IGP to Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine’s route to and from the nomination venue will be; Magere, Kumbuzi, Kisasi, Ntinda, Stretcher road, Spear Motors, Kyambogo University junction and finally to the nomination venue.
