Police and the military personnel were Thursday deployed in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb, to disperse supporters of MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
The protesters set bonfires in the middle of the roads and cut off Old Kiira Road.
The demonstrators said they were angry with police’s decision to block Bobi’s concert at Busabala on Boxing Day.
Police said Bobi was trying to hold a concert without security clearance, a key requirement for a public gathering.
During today’s protest, angry youth briefly engaged security forces in running battles.
By midday the situation had normalized with police taking charge of the situation and clearing the roads to allow smooth flow of traffic.
