Singer turned politician Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine shed tears of joy as the Military Court Martial set him free this morning in Gulu.
Bobi Wine appeared in court on charges of illegal possession of fire arms and ammunition which were withdrawn by the State.
During the second session of the court hearing, Lt. General Andrew Guti, the High Command to the UPDF Court Martial told court that they were dropping the charges and setting Bobi Wine free.
Clad in a dark denim long sleeved shirt and brown khaki trousers, Bobi Wine who was seated on a green plastic chair couldn’t help it but break down as tears rolled down his cheeks. He was seen trying to dry his eyes with his fingers.
His joy was however short-lived as his lawyer Medard Ssegona informed him that he was still under arrest and in the custody of the Uganda Police Force.
Walking on clutches, Bobi Wine was immediately driven off to Gulu Chief Magistrates Court to face Treason charges with other MPs who were arrested during the chaos in Arua Municipality, as a civilian.
He was driven off in a police car together with his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi to Gulu Chief Magistrates Court.
