Bobi Wine Abandons Manifesto Launch

National Unity Platform Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) has eventually given up on his planned Manifesto launch at his party offices in Kamwokya.

Bobi Wine was involved in a standoff with security forces at his residence in Magere that lasted nearly three hours.

The MP had demanded to be escorted to his office in Kamwokya but the police declined.

He was then locked in a police truck which parked in front or his gate for hours.

From around midday, Police fired teargas to disperse hundreds of supporters that converged at his home.

Eventually at 3:40pm, Bobi Wine, after consultation with his lawyers, agreed to leave the vehicle and enter his house.

Inside the residence, hundreds of supporters queued up to welcomed him with songs and ululations.

A lady only identified as Shamim was rushed to the hospital with head injuries.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga refuted reports that she had passed on.

“No, thanks,” said Enanga when asked whether she had passed on.
