As authorities continue to deny knowledge of his whereabouts, and distrusting family members unwilling to seek police help, new details have emerged about MP Robert Kyagulanyi’s bodyguard Eddy Ssebuufu, who went missing on Friday night.
Friends claim Ssebuufu, who is better known as Eddy Mutwe, was surrounded by armed plain clothed men at Red Pocket Pub in Kampala, where he was arrested, and bundled in a waiting car.
Both Police and the army have denied knowledge of the arrest, with the Chief of Defense Forces Gen David Muhoozi telling press yesterday, “Why would we arrest Bobi Wine’s bodyguard?”
Information that this site is getting however, is that Mr Sebuufu was arrested by the Police Flying Squad.
A source inside police tells us, the Flying Squad team had trailed him for a while.
It is understood that Eddy Mutwe was with Hon Bobi Wine during the August 13th riots, in which the latter was arrested along with other MPs and opposition supporters.
Police Spokesman Emilian Kayima has since strongly denied the arrest saying, “The police has not arrested Eddy Mutwe as alleged by social media platforms,” Mr. Kayima said.
He advised the family of Eddy Mutwe to report the case of missing member to any police station to kick start the search.
“If he is missing, we advise that the family immediately reports disappearance of their family member to the nearest police station for efforts to find him,” he advised.
