Bobi, Amuriat Nomination: Police, Military Tighten Security

Police and military personnel are heavily deployed along route which Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and FDC’s Patrick Amuriat will use to Kyambogo grounds for his nomination.

Security forces are present in Magere, Kisaasi, Ntinda and Nakawa. Other men in uniform are present in downtown Kampala especially Kisseka area.

Police wrote to Bobi about a designated route for his nomination, saying it would enable his “timely travel to and from the nomination venue.”

The law enforcement body said Bobi “will be escorted by the Uganda Police Force with a lead traffic vehicle/motorcycle, to the nomination venue with your team as per the electoral commission guidelines.”

Bobi’s convoy will pass through Magere, Kumbuzi, Kisaasi, Ntinda Stretcher road, Spear Motors, Kyambogo University junction to the nomination venue at Kyambogo grounds.

The anti-riot police personnel and military police deployed this morning in different hotspots in Kampala especially downtown and Makindye amid reports that People Power supporters were planning political assemblies.

The military also is deployed on the same route

Bobi will soon set off from his residence in Magere to the nomination venue.

He was photographed with his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi who was wearing a red cap. Authorities recently banned red berets – a political symbol of People Power.

Bobi has since appealed to security forces to protect his supporters along the streets.

Police have since vowed a tough stance against any violations of nomination guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission.
