At least 19 sailors are still missing after the boat they were travelling in capsized this morning on Lake Albert in Ndaiga Sub county, Kagadi district.
Livingstone Akugizibwe, the Ndaiga sub county district Councillor told ChimpReports that the boat carrying 25 sailors was heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Of these, he said, only six people including 3 children were rescued by the fishermen who heard them crying for help.
The survivors have been rushed to different health facilities in Ntoroko district for treatment.
The councillor says the victims are from the villages of Kitebere, Kamina and Nyamasoga all in Ndaiga Sub County, while a few others were others were Congolese nationals.
Agugizibwe believes the heavy storm that was sweeping across the water body could have led to the accident.
It was still unclear whether the maritime police had joined the search by publication of this story.
Local Police were also yet to comment on the incident.
