Security has been tightened at the residence of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi in Kololo, Kampala, where the giveaway function of his niece will take place today Saturday.
Ms Bridget Birungi Rwakairu, who was raised by Mbabazi after her father was killed in the 1980s will today be officially handed over to Andile Ramaphosa as his wife at the African traditional ceremony.
The function will be graced by President Museveni and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, the father of Andile.
The South African leader jetted into the country on a commercial airline on Friday afternoon.
He would later meet with President Museveni at State House Entebbe before proceeding to Kampala.
ChimpLyf reported that Andile’s mother arrived in the country earlier this week.
At Nyonyi Gardens, preparations were already complete by last night, paving way for the much-anticipated celebration.
36-year-old Bridget Birungi Rwakairu is daughter to Shadrack Rwakairu and Peace Ruhindi.
Rwakairu was murdered in 1983 by the UNLA soldiers just five years into his marriage with Mrs Ruhindi.
Birungi holds a post-graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Beijing University of Science and Technology.
She also holds a BSc, Environmental Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University.
She attended Nyakisoroza Primary School, Nyakishenyi (Rukungiri) before joining Nabbingo Primary School (Wakiso) where she completed her PLE.
She completed her O’ Level at Gayaza High School and her A’ level at Makerere College School.
Birungi’s wedding with the South African First Son, is expected “later this year.”
The Ramaphosa family is said to have a strong attachment to Uganda.
The South African President owns dozens Ankole cattle, which he purchased from President Yoweri Museveni back in 2004.
