Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Feni Ali and Ivan Kalolo Kiweewa scored a goal each for the Purple shacks.

It’s good that we won our first game, it’s special for me because this is my home village and I hope we can try to build from this,” briefly noted Wakiso Giants Coach Ibrahim Kirya.

The Papo restaurant sponsored side have now collected five points from three games.

The side had drawn their first two games against Amuka Bright Stars (2-2) and JMC Hippos (1-1) in Lira and Kakindu respectively.

Kataka FC have now played four games, winning one (against Nebbi Central) and drawing twice against Doves All Stars and Bukedea TC. This is their first loss.

Timely Victory For The Big Spenders

Following an unconvincing start to the side, the pressure had started to mount in the Wakiso camp.

Kirya made some changes from the team that had drawn away at JMC Hippos: Abdu Karim Kasule and Richard Kigozi were among the players dropped from the starting team. James Kasibante started at left back replacing an injured Suleiman Jjingo.

The side almost went ahead inside the first minute but Lubobi headed wide Muwadda’s aerial delivery.

Both sides struggled to retain possession but the hosts looked a threat going forward.

However, Kirya’s side looked blunt and wasteful: Ali Feni tried out many attempts on target but fired wide, Magomu was denied by goalkeeper Edward Kasibante at close range.

Kataka FC had a chance to score first, but Hassan Wadenga’s bicycle kick was blocked for a corner.

Two minutes to the end of the first stanza, Hassan Wasswa scored from a freekick to put the hosts in a deserved lead.

Feni Ali led by example in the second half when he doubled the lead from a beautiful run of play.

Magomu almost made it three but he arrived late as Ziraba’s low delivery went across the goal mouth. Muwadda also had his rocket from outside the box go an inch off the target.

Substitute Kiweewa scored the third to put the game to bed before Referee Lucky Kasalime put an end to a one way avenue game.

Next for Wakiso is a league game away to Bukedea next Thursday.
