Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi is set to miss Uganda Cranes 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double header against South Sudan scheduled for next month.
His Scottish Club Motherwell confirmed on Friday that the towering defender Mugabi suffered a dislocated shoulder in training and will be on the sidelines for four to six weeks.
“Bevis Mugabi will be out for four to six weeks with a dislocated shoulder. The defender, who has established himself as an important figure in the Motherwell backline, suffered the injury on his return to training earlier this week,” read the statement.
The huge blow comes few days after Mugabi had returned to the club from the Uganda Cranes training camp that was held in Dubai and climaxed last week on Tuesday.
Motherwell’s manager Stephen Robinson termed the injury as a blow to the team that will greatly miss his services.
“It is a blow to lose Bevis. He has played his way into the team and acquitted himself very well. He just seems to be unfortunate that when he gets a run of games, he suffers an injury,” the gaffer said.
Uganda Cranes will play host to South Sudan on 14th November at the St Mary’s Stadium ahead of the return leg in Nairobi, Kenya three days after.
