Best Of Photos As Team Uganda Return From 2018 Commonwealth Games

Team Uganda returned from the just concluded 2018 Commonwealth games in Australia on Thursday afternoon.

The team was officially welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports Janet Museveni.

The team arrived in two phases with the first batch arriving via Emirates airlines at 1.50pm before the much awaited hero Joshua Kiprui Cheptegi coming at 2:30 aboard  South African Airlines.

Beside the First lady, and other officials, some of the selected family members of the participants were present to welcome back the participants.

Cheptegei is lifted shoulders high by a jubilant crowd.

From Entebbe, the team was taken to a VIP conference where the First Lady made  remarks and thanked them for their heroic performances.

Parents, fans and relatives could not hide their emotions as they lifted gold medalist Stella Chesang  (PPU)

The team was taken to Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala where they were treated to a dinner organised by National Council of Sports.

Along the way (Entebbe to Kampala), many fans were seen standing besides the road and near tall buildings chanting various songs.

Uganda finished 15th out of the 71 Commonwealth Games Associations(countries) that took part in the event.

Joshua Cheptegei won two gold medals in the 5000 and 10000 metres, Stella Chesang won gold in the women’s 10000 metres, Solomon Murai won silver in the Men’s Marathon, Mercyline Chelangat and Boxer Juma Miiro won bronze each in the 10,000m and flyweight category respectively
