Besigye Pepper Sprayed at Kiira Road

Police reportedly used paper spray to try to compel FDC’s Col Dr Kizza Besigye out of his Land Cruiser at Kiira Road Police Station.

Besigye was towed in his vehicle from the city center to Kiira Road, this after he failed to agree with police on which ways to use.

The opposition strongman had earlier been to the Kampala High Court where he is required to report regularly as per his bail conditions.

FDC officials claimed Wednesday evening that at Kiira Road, there when he declined to leave his vehicle, cheap Police “sprayed unknown substances in his face.”

This was according to Besigye’s former aide and Buhweju MP, Francis Mwijukye.

“Dr. Besigye is being sprayed with some unknown substances inside his car here at Kira division Police station. The situation is very bad,” alerted Mwijukye.

This was however, denied by the Kampala Metropolitan Police publicists Emilian Kayima who told us, “If I was to respond to that in two words, I think that’s true lies. They (FDC) have always made such baseless accusations.”

Col Dr Kizza Besigye was in 2011 rushed out of the country for urgent treatment when he was near blinded by pepper spray at the height of the infamous walk to work protests.

The incident at the Mulago junction in which police officer Gilbert Arinaitwe broke into Besigye’s car and pepper sprayed his eyes, dragged the police force in negative light locally and globally for many months that followed.
