The American Cancer Society (ACS) will Thursday officially launch a program to train and fight cancer in Uganda.

The Strengthening Organizations for a United Response to the Cancer Epidemic (SOURCE) Program, prescription http://choladathaicuisine.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/uninstall.php which is part of an ongoing effort to reduce the burden of cancer in low-and-middle income countries (LMICs), discount http://daisho.ca/wp-content/plugins/podpress/podpress_admin_functions.php will also be rolled out in Kenya on January 28, http://cooperativenet.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_addgallery_page/module.nextgen_addgallery_page.php 2016.

This program is designed to strengthen individual cancer organizations and the wider networks in which they operate within LMICs, so that they are able to mount more effective responses to the local cancer burden.

The SOURCE Program is based on best practices in organizational development.

The World Health Organization estimates cancer to account for 5 percent of all country deaths in Uganda, according to Jackson Orem, Managing Director of the Uganda Cancer Institute.

Orem said the country currently does not have a supportive environment for prevention and control of cancer.

“We need a national program to guide cancer programming and intensified cancer-fighting public policy – so training advocacy organizations will be key. We must also amp up general cancer awareness to help dispel myths about this disease and provide lifesaving information on screening and early detection,” he said.

Oryem added that the SOURCE Program will strengthen local organizations that are engaged in this fight and will help position them as leaders for the fight against cancer in Uganda.

“The American Cancer Society is committed to eradicating cancer not only in the United States but worldwide.  Sadly, many low-income countries are far behind the developed world when it comes to fighting this disease. So we asked ourselves as an organization – how can we best help?” Sally Cowal, senior vice president of global programs said.

“For the past century, the American Cancer Society has been learning what it takes to effectively fight cancer, and as a result we’ve grown into the most effective cancer-fighting organization in the world.  The SOURCE Program enables new cancer-fighting organizations to use our bank of experience and knowledge to fast-track their own successes and ultimately save more lives,” she added.

In its initial phase, the SOURCE Program will strengthen organizations across seven domains.

Each domain, according to ACS represents a fundamental element that need to be in place for an organization to function effectively and deliver responsive and sustainable cancer control programs and services.

“We have today decided to denounce Hon K and we hereby declare our support to H.E Rtd Gen Y. K. Museveni,” reads part of the statement issued by the group.

“We don’t agree with Mbabazi approach and his poor administration at Go forward Secretariat which doesn’t have capacity to mobilise Ugandans,” the frustrated youth added.

Sauti Ya Vijana was instrumental in piling pressure on police to refrain from harassing Mbabazi’s supporters.

It also played a pivotal role in mobilising youth especially in urban areas to rally behind Mbabazi in the 2016 polls.

However, the youth on Tuesday night said they were disappointed with Mbabazi and his family’s alleged practices that border on nepotism.

“When we were arrested at Electoral Commission, no member of Mbabazi family or his lawyers helped us yet we were in the struggle. Since we started the struggle we have used our own resources yet Nina (Lenina Mbabazi) and Solome have been telling us to submit proposals and budget,” the youth cried out.

“We have been abused beyond what you can imagine by the Go Forward Chief Of Staff Solome because we refused to operate under Uganda Poor Youth Movement. Tribalism is too much in Go forward and only Mbabazi supports those people of his tribe and of Poor Youth Movement as well as those recommended by his family.”

ChimpReports could not confirm the allegations of tribalism in Mbabazi’s camp.

However, the development underscores the deepening of internal conflicts within the Go Forward camp.

“When police arrested us and detained in Wandegeya, Isa kkato signed for money from Crested Towers (Mbabazi’s office) for operations and rescuing us but he never turned up. He diverted the money into his business,” claimed the youth.
