Musician Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has extended his campaign against tuberculosis in the country to the western District of Mbarara
Bebe Cool and the Amber Heart Foundation team on Thursday opened three screening desks at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital, Mbarara City Council Health Center IV and Bwizibwera Health Center IV.
This bring to 16 the number of screening desks that the foundation has launched, the others being in Kampala and Jinja.
Bebe Cool said that the objective of this one-year TB REACH project is finding people with TB and linking them to medication.
Tuberculosis remains a major public health problem in Uganda with an annual incidence of 330 cases of all forms and 136 new smear positive cases per 100,000 people per year.
Last year, 1.3 million people around the world died from tuberculosis (TB) with Uganda among the 22 most affected countries.
