Bebe Cool Addresses AFRIMA Boycott

Star singer Bebe Cool is the only Ugandan male singer who has received a nod in the 2018 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) that will be taking place on November 24, in Accra Ghana.

The 41 year old singer has been nominated in the category of Best Male East Africa where he faces stiff competition from Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Rayvanny (Tanzania), Harmonize (Tanzania), Khaligraph (Kenya) and Nyashinski (Kenya).

Last week a section of Ugandans called for a boycott against voting for him after singer Eddy Kenzo took to social media to rally support for the Gagamel boss, so the award can come home.

This did not go down well with opposition fans who blasted the 2015 BET award winner for suggesting that they support the Bebe Cool who has made his support for President Museveni no secret.

The fans said they would rather support their ‘ex-in-law’ Diamond Platnumz who fathered 2 children with Uganda Tourism Brand Ambassador Zari Hassan.

Now, Bebe Cool has hit back at those calling for his boycott saying, the mere fact that he is the only Ugandan male singer nominated in this year’s AFRIMA is already a win and it’s high time they started using their brains not only to think but also to always digest issues so that they too can win.

In the lengthy rant posted on his Facebook page, Bebe Cool added that he wouldn’t mind losing to any of the singers pitted against him because East Africa is one and a win for one of its countries is a win for all.

Others Ugandans nominated in the prestigious awards that seek to celebrate African music talents include, Sheebah Karungi, Irene Namatovu and Sandra Nankoma among others.
