The 12th edition of the Bayimba Festival kicked off on Thursday 1 at Lunkulu Island in Mukono.
As usual,the anual social event has seen different artistes including Sammy Kasule Jamaica’s Jah Lex, Gravity Omutujju ,Sarah Zawedde and Iddi Masaba with more expected to perfom on Saturday and sunday as it gets to the end.
The four day event has awhole range of activities including games,art exhibitions,modeling among others.
During the opening ceremony,Faisal Kiwewa,Festival Director disclosed that the festival has got a new partnership with Sfinks.
“I would like to announce a new partnership between Sfinks mixed festival and Bayimba.
Both festivals in solidarity aim at ecological sustainability and development of people in a festival environment,” said Mr.Kiwewa.
He added that,”the programme this Year is what it is,it’s Bayimba and we are very sure you will enjoy it.
But more than that,we really want you to have a better experience of the Island than last year.”
Some of the items on the display include; jewelry, African designer clothes,crafts and paintings among others.
Speaking to Chimpreports,a one Herman of the organizers said that this edition is full of fun,having many more new activities lined up for the revelers.
In regards to the turn up, he said,”this year’s turn up is not disappointing though it’s not like last year where he had many partners.
But the fact,today being a Friday,it’s no surprise at all that people would not be many.”
He however, revealed that more numbers are expected on Saturday 3 since it is a weekend.
The festival will run up to Sunday 4 with lots of performances,Nyama Choma,movie screenings and Poetry among others.
