Bayern players spent most of their time in Paris Saint-Germain’s side in the first half while the French team attempted to build forward. Thiago Alcantara fouled Kylian Mbappe in the 9th minute and the French youngster earned a free-kick. Neymar kicked the ball to the back post and Davies defended it promptly. Five minutes later, PSG made long diagonal pass to Mbappe. He made a backheel pass to Juan Bernat but Bayern’s players blocked it.

Mbappe took another shot in the 15th minute but it was blocked. Neymar approached Bayern’s post from the left side and Neuer made a vital save with his heel in the 19th minute. Robert Lewandowski narrowly missed scoring an opener in the 22nd minute. Jerome Boateng sustained an injury in the 25th minute and he was substituted by Niklas Sule.

Thilo Kehrer fouled Kingsley Coman shortly before halftime. But, the Virtual Assistant Referee (VAR) didn’t review it. Gnabry hit Neymar’s ankle in the 51st minute and received a yellow card. Joshua Kimmich curled the ball to the far post in the 59th minute, and Coman scored an amazing header thus giving Bayern a lead. PSG surged for an equalizer and narrowly missed it in stoppage time.

Paris Saint-Germain Makes Costly Mistakes

The French giants paid a record £200million to sign Neymar from FC Barcelona. The team heavily relied on Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the Champions League final. Yet, none of them was able to penetrate the tight defense that Bayern had. The two soccer stars had several scoring opportunities in the first half. But, they had poor finishing. Neuer was alert whenever they approached the goalpost. Kylian missed netting in the ball just before halftime.
