Rwanda’s hopes of playing in the Afrocan championships were shattered by Uganda’s Silverbacks on Monday as the Zone V championship climaxed at Lugogo.
The Rwandans needed to beat Uganda but fell short as the Silverbacks won 77-71 in a close men’s affair.
The loss meant that Kenya, who had won three out of their four games book the ticket.
In the women’s AfroBasket qualifiers, both newly-crowned Zone Five champions Egypt and Kenya qualified for the August finals to take place in Senegal.
