Basketball U16: Uganda Start Campaign As Burundi, Kenya Abscond Rwanda Games

Tanzania started their fight for a place in the FIBA Africa U16 Nations Championships with a 63-74 win over Rwanda on Monday in Kigali.

The Zone 5 comprises ten countries but only Uganda, the hosts Rwanda and Tanzania have honored the junior games.

Those who missed include Rwanda’s bitter rivals Burundi, Egypt, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia.

Uganda Junior Gazelles – the girls’ team- will take on Tanzania later on Tuesday evening in their first match.

They will play Rwanda on Wednesday as the boys’ start their games against the hosts’ boys team.
