Daniel Ogwang was on Thursday midnight shot to death at a Petrol station in Mbuya.
The deceased has been the assistant captain of UPDF Tomahawks and a coach at Gems Cambridge School.
It was reported that Ogwang was shot dead at a fuel station in Mbuya by one of the local security companies.
“It’s true, he was shot near his residence on his motorcycle by a security guard who ran away,” confirmed Defence Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemeire.
It was reported that Ogwang went with a friend to Mbuya petrol station on a Boda to refuel. However, a scuffle started when a pump attendant decided to fuel first the car that came after the deceased’s motorbike.
To calm down the situation, the station’s Askari intervened before he shot live bullets that took away Ogwang’s life.
UPDF Tomahawks coach Baker Kyambadde, with deep sorrow, told this website: “It’s sad news for the club and basketball fraternity, Ogwang has been the most disciplined player on the team and we have not only lost an assistant captain but also a friend.”
Information reaching this website indicate that the body will be taken to Gems for prayers, later to Bombo barracks later on Friday.
Ogwang will be laid to rest on Saturday in Lira district at 4 PM.
Ogwang, may you sleep with the Angels.
