Bantariza Professionalized Media Relations between Army and Citizens – Nabakooba

The Minister for ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba has eulogized the fallen deputy Government spokesperson and deputy Executive Director of Uganda Media Center, Col Shaban Bantariza.

Bantariza died at Mulago hospital on Tuesday morning.

Nabakooba said in a statement on Tuesday that Bantariza will always be remembered for his brilliant work as army spokesperson.

“I remember his hard work in keeping the country informed and accountable during the LRA rebellion of Northern Uganda, the peace keeping missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo and many others.”

“Afande Bantariza worked hard to build the foundation for professionalising media relations between the army and citizens,” said Nabakooba.

She added that Bantariza’s “depth in public dialogue, humor and flexibility” in service were unmatched, adding that the deceased always had a broader understanding of policy issues and how they relate to national, regional and international perspectives.

Bantariza was 57 at the time of his death.

Details for his burial will be communicated soon by the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).
