Bank of Uganda Security Officers Charged, Remanded

City Hall Court Grade One Magistrate Court today charged two people working as security officials at Bank of Uganda, with neglect of duty.

The two ware accused of failing to search people with luggage entering and leaving the central bank, which led to the disappearance of vital documents regarding the closure of various banks.

The two are Beatrice Kyambadde, a resident of Makerere Kavule Zone and Charles Moro a resident of Kamwokya, Kifumbira zone.

These appeared separately before magistrates Patrick Talisuna and Beatrice Kainza, respectively.

They both denied the charges.

The two suspects were on Thursday last week detained by Police on orders of   members of parliament who are investigating the closure of the various banks by the central bank.

They both failed to explain how the said documents left the Central Bank building without their knowledge.

The suspects applied for bail and produced in court sureties.


The state Prosecution however, asked for an adjournment to be able to study these applications so that they may provide a response

The accused persons were remanded to Luzira  prison until 6th December.
