Bank of Uganda Officers Remanded Back to Luzira

City Hall grade one magistrates court has further remanded to Luzira two Bank of Uganda security officers who are charged for neglecting their duties.

The two, Beatrice Kyambadde and Charles Moro had appeared in court to hear the State Prosecution’s reply on their bail application, for which they applied earlier this week.

The suspects appeared before two magistrates: Kyambadde before Grade One Magistrate Patrick Talisuna and Moro before Beatrice Kainza.

Prosecution led by Joy Kalungi in reply told court that it had no objection to their bail application because they presented sureties who appeared substantial, and therefore asked the magistrates to exercise their discretion

The two magistrates however, remanded both suspects back to Luzira until Monday when a ruling will be made on their bail.

The duo were  last  week detained  by the parliamentary COSASE committee after failing to   explain how important documents relating to the sale and liquidation of  several banks, went missing from Bank of Uganda custody.

On Tuesday they were produced before Kampala City Hall court and they both denied the offense of neglect of duty.

Documents before court indicate that Omoro committed the offence on 14 March 2015 while as Kyambadde committed the offence on 10 February 2015 at Bank of Uganda when they failed to do their duty of checking people and bags entering Bank premises which led to disappearance of the documents.
