Bajjo’s Bail Ruling Set for Next Week

Court will Monday next week decide on whether or not to release on bail, events manager Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo, who was remanded to Luzira last week over allegations of disturbing the peace of President Yoweri Museveni.

On his return to Buganda road court this morning, Bajjo was read all the charges of inciting violence and offensive communication, which he wholesomely denied.

Through his lawyer Erias Lukwago, Bajjo applied for bail on grounds that the charges against him are bailable before this court, and that he has no criminal record

He also informed court that he was brutally arrested which left him with some bodily pain.

“He requires medical examination for proper treatment,” Lukwago submitted.

Bajjo through his lawyers presented to court three sureties whom he asked court to find substantial

These included Aloysius Matovu Kiiza a friend, Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex a Business Associate and Bigirwa Moses another friend to him

The state Prosecutor Patricia Kintho however, objected to this application saying that the documents of the two sureties Bigirwa and Matovu didn’t match with the information on their national identity cards.

She added that ASP Imana Welle the investigative officer in this matter swore an affidavit indicating that investigations are still underway and therefore releasing him may affect the matter.

In reply to this Lukwago argued that there was only one witness, President Museveni and according to his status, Bajjo has no ability to stop him from coming to court.

The matter was adjourned to 1st July 2019 for bail ruling and the accused was sent back to Luzira
