Events organizer Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo, who was last week charged with Offensive Communication and Inciting Violence is expected to return to Buganda Road court today for plea taking and bail application
In his first appearance before Chief Magistrate Stella Amabirisi, Bajjo’s plea taking didn’t proceed because he informed court that he needed a Luganda interpreter who at the time was not readily available in court
Before the adjournment, Bajjo pleaded guilty to one of the charges, while his lawyer Erias Lukwago said he committed the offence without properly understanding what it meant because there had been no proper interpretation made to him.
Court was stood over for some minutes to look for an interpreter but since it was already late the matter was fixed for another date to enable court secure a well-qualified Luganda translator
Through his lawyers, Bajjo is expected to apply for bail pending the hearing of his case.
By Tuesday morning, People Power activists, Politicians, musicians, lawyers and others had started arriving at Buganda Road court
Prosecution contends that during the month of June 2019 at various places of Masaka, Ibanda and Kampala, wilfully and repeatedly with intent to disturb the peace and privacy of the person of the President, Bajjo recorded an audio and posted it on social media containing inciting messages using his mobile phone
Its further alleged that in this video he threatened to overthrow the government before 2021 with non-purpose of legitimate communication
