Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC head coach Ayub Khalifa was happy that his team secured a 3-0 win over She Corporate on Sunday. However, he indicated the performance was not as satisfying as he would have wanted.
” I’m happy that we won the game 3-0 but if you look beyond the result, I don’t think we played to our best,” he said before adding, ” If you keenly watched the game, the goals we got came as a result of mistakes by our opponents but not our brilliance but the most important thing is that we got the result we wanted. ”
The Warriors condemned She Corporate to their first loss this season and it was also the first time that they were conceding this season after keeping clean sheets in their opening three games.
The result elevated Kawempe Muslim to the summit of the table in Victoria group on ten points in four games.
Asked about the team’s target this season, Khalifa who has guided the team to four successive league titles stated that the prime target is to retain the championship.
” The school motto is Go Higher but as a team we have a slogan that says Vision beyond a goal. This means, we always target to go for the prime prize and that is winning the league.”
Juliet Nalukenge scored twice to take her goal tally to four in as many games this season and currently leads the scoring charts.
Her coach Ayub Khalifa believes she has the ability to score in every other game if she remains consistent.
” Nalukenge is a good player but sometimes inconsistent. I believe if she plays to her best ability regularly, she can score in every game.”
The Crested Cranes striker scored seven goals last season in the league and will hope to better that tally this season.
In an interview with her after the game, Nalukenge set herself a target of at least 15 league goals.
” I’m happy that I have started the season well. Four goals in four games is a good return and I hope this will motivate me to score more. My target this season is to score at least 15 goals.” She said.
