Uganda Premier League
Onduparaka 1-0 Lweza
Onduparaka returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a slight victory against wobbling Lweza who are yet to win a game in the second round.
Reigning best Fufa footballer Mohammad Shaban was on target and his solitary effort helped Onduparaka edge past Lweza who ended the game with nine players.
Shaban fired home at the Stoke of halftime with a superb strike off Gaddafi Gadinho’s assist from a free kick.
Lweza were reduced to nine men inside the closing stages of the game with forward Hassan Kikoyo getting straight marching orders for a clumsy foul.
Skipper Swaib “Broadway” Mudde too was sent off with five minutes to time after earning a second yellow card for a reportedly abuse on the referee. He had earlier been booked midway through the game.
The Caterpillars would have doubled the lead after recess but Mohammad Shaban had his goal in the 57th minute disallowed by the assistant referee for offside.
The result means Onduparaka now move to 4th position on 37 points dislodging Vipers while Lweza remain locked in the relegation zone in 14th place on 22 points.
