Express FC 1-2 SC Vipers

SC Vipers returned to winning ways with an exquisite display, edging Express FC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The Venoms managed to defeat Express FC 2-1 in a well-attended game.

Goals from Milton Kariisa and Erisa Ssekisambu were enough to give the Kitende-based side a routine victory – Mzee Dan Sserunkuma brought one back for the hosts.

Coming into this tie at the back of a 2-1 loss at home against URA FC, Vipers had a poor start as their 3 man defence (Deus Bukenya, Shafic Bakaki and Geoffrey Wasswa) struggled to contain a determined Bisaso’s side – but they withered through the storm.

20 minutes into the game, Kariisa ran from his marker to head home Waisswa’s low corner and hand the visitors a lead.

Vipers doubled their lead just 4 minutes to halftime with Ssekisambu scoring from the spot following a tackle from behind by Suleiman Jjingo on Brian Nkuubi.

In the second half, Express looked the better side with the introduction of Captain David Ndihabwe and veteran Bengo into the middle of the park.

Bengo’s flick at the edge of the box beat Bukenya and Wasswa to set Dan Sserunkuma free on goal before the striker slotted past a helpless Ismael Watenga to halve the deficit in the 68th minute.

Vipers socked pressure and held on thereafter for a vital win that elevated them to 4th on the log.

Next for Express FC is a trip to Lugogo to face off with defending Champions KCCA FC as the 2014-2015 winners will tussle with Proline on the same weekend.
