AUPL: Jinja Derby Ends in Stalemate

Azam Uganda Premier League

Kirinya Jinja SS 1-1 BUL FC

The highly anticipated encounter between Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL FC ended with no winner as the two teams settled for a stalemate.

In the Jinja derby played on Saturday at Kyabazinga stadium, Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL played out a one all draw.

Patrick Asiku had given the visitors the lead midway through the first half but Ibrahim Kayiwa levelled matters for Jinja SS to salvage a point in the closing quarter of the game.

Kirinya had themselves to blame for not taking maximum points failing to convert the numerous chances created on the day.

Ibrahim Kayiwa, Musa Esenu and Faizo Muwawu all had chances to put the school side ahead but kept fluffing chance after the other.

It was Asiku who broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with fantastic finish inside the 6 yard box.

A run initiated by Mike Ndera released Umar Mukobe on the right and his well weighed cross was perfectly controlled by Asiku before slotting home.

BUL FC were forced to make two changes in the game with Martin Kivumbi stretched off and replaced by Hamisi Tibita after sustaining a head injury.

Defender Mukobe too limped off after pulling a hamstring and his place was taken by Fred Agandu.

After numerous attempts, Jinja SS finally levelled matters in the 84th minute through Ibrahim Kayiwa who headed home Faizal Muledhu’s free kick.

BUL had Patrick Ssembuya sent off in stoppage time after a double footed challenge on Godfrey Akol.

The result means Kirinya move to 4th place on 5 points while BUL FC are a distant 13th with two points in three games.
