Maroons FC 1-1 UPDF FC
Maroons Football Club have mastered the art of registering draws this season with no other team coming any close.
The Prison warders were involved in their 9th draw this season as they shared spoils with UPDF FC in the derby of forces.
In the game played at Maroons stadium,Luzira, the visitors took the lead midway through the first half but Maroons needed a second half surge to salvage a point.
Starting the game without creative midfielder Pius Obuya, Maroons struggled to find the cutting edge despite dominating play in the opening stages of the game.
Solomon Walusimbi got the first chance of the game in the 5th minute after a slip by UPDF FC captain Dennis Ssekitoleko but he failed to convert.
It was Maroons who took the lead through midfielder Robert Nakyenalire converting a penalty after Maroons combative midfielder Ronald Orombi handled the ball in the forbidden area.
Maroons coach Asaph Mwebaze called for changes with Abdu Ssenyonjo and Batte Wasswa paving way for William Kibi and Ronald Kikonyongo respectively.
Walusimbi levelled matters for the Prison warders jumping high to head home Sylvester Okello’s long ball past goalkeeper Harrison Ssempajji.
Centre referee Robert Donney like he is best known for being controversial failed to send off UPDF’s defender Yasin Mubiru who intentionally handled the ball yet he was already booked.
The result means Maroons FC move to 8th place on 18 points while UPDF FC remain bottom of the table on seven points
