Azam Uganda Premier League
Maroon FC 0-0 Masavu FC
Maroons have mastered the art of making draws in the Uganda Premier League this season with majority of their games ending in stalemates.
The Prison warders were held to yet another draw on Tuesday against a resilient Masavu FC side in the game played at Maroons stadium in Luzira.
This was Maroons FC 12th draw in the 17 games they have played this season to march the same record set up by URA FC last season.
In a game that witnessed low scoring chances, Maroons FC were the better side in terms of possession but failed to break past a solid backline put up by the visitors.
The first chance of the game came as early as the third minute off Simon Namwanja’s left footed effort but Maroons goalkeeper Ashadu Bugembe was quick to tip the ball over. Charles Wamala’s effort too went inches off target at the half hour mark.
Despite Asaph Mwebaze making changes in the second stanza introducing William Kiibi and Ronald Kikonyogo for Patrick Gonahasa and Pius Obuya respectively, Maroons failed to get the break through.
With ten minutes left on the clock, striker Solomon Walusimbi almost broke the deadlock but a brilliant save by man of the match Ibrahim Mpengere denied him.
Masavu goalie Salim Wekiya failed to clear Richard Ayiko’s delivery from the left and Walusimbi headed the ball towards goal but Mpengere was well stationed to clear the ball off the line.
Masavu FC remain in relegation zone on 16 points in 14th place while Maroons FC are sixth on the log with 23 points.
